How do I encourage worms out of the bottom tray
I have a worm works, and at last the bottom tray seems to be fully digested and ready for the garden. However, there are still a lot of worms in it. How do I encourage them to leave and move upwards, or do I have to weed them out by hand before putting the compost onto the garden? I only have one tray above with food, the top one having just shredded paper at the moment. Is the trick to put food into the top tray as well?

Hi,
I don't know if this will work for you, it's just an observation from my wormworks. I only have one tray only about half full at present but at one time I had quite a few worms escaping into the sump tray. I started adding, just because they were available, coffee grounds, maybe a few handfuls at a time. I now find that I have a lot more worms on the surface of the tray and almost none in the sump so I don't know if the coffee grounds are doing it. Maybe worth a try.
