dead worms?

Re: dead worms?
Hello,
I think the same thing has happened to me, but I'm not too sure.
I got my wormery delivered two weeks ago and set it up as per the instructions.
After putting in the first handful vegetable waste with a shredded egg cartoon I left them alone for several days. Over the last week I've feed them a handful daily and for three days there were worms everywhere. However in the last two days I'm not seen a single worm.
Worried about my worms, I did have a careful look around, but still can't find any. Admittedly I didn't look too rigorously... as I didn't want to hurt them... am I being too careful?
They've only been feed egg shells, fruit and vegetable matter... no oranges, or onions or garlic or ginger etc. I get about 2mls of tea per day... is that too much?
The wormery is kept in a shed... maybe they're not getting enough oxygen?
There's no smell... perhaps they're hiding when I lift the lid... maybe they're sleeping?
Sorry, I'm a bit of a worry wart... and I'll be grateful for any advice.

Re: dead worms?
hello,
I am yasmila, from Rotterdam. I have bought a wormery, but it doesn't works. I have sent 2 emails to sales@wormery.nl , but I did not get any answer. This is the email I have sent. I hope I will get an answer.
Dear Sir, Madam,
In September we bought a Wormerey. We have done everything as described in the book. Now, after eight weeks, it seems that it does not work. The Wormerey smells not very nice, so we tried to discover what was happening. We could only find six worms. Two of them were in the compost, the other worms were on the walls. The compost was enough humid, but there was no liquid on the bottom. There was also no mold. We only use bio-organic food, so that cannot be a problem. The Wormery stays in the staircase (temperature +/- 12 *C). After we have looked we let a little part of the compost in the Wormerey, with the six worms. The rest we brought to our garden. We really do not understand the problem. In any case we need new worms, but we would like to know what could be the problem too. It would be very nice if you respond us very soon.
Yours faithfully

by the sounds of it they were loving the situation, having no smell, some juice per day and hidden worms all sound like good signs... your not going to hurt them by moving the compost about as long as your gentle, its a good idea to keep aerating the wormery to avoid the compost turning aerobic.

hiya,
by the sounds of it the compost was retaining the liquid... was the bottom dry?
if so you should try mixing the compost up with some paper/cardboard (toilet rolls are ideal), this will help the liquid drain and put oxygen into the compost...
also i have sent a email to the office to try and track your email down...
Regards
Paul
